Low Ratings

I was reading an article about Drug Prohibition Violence in Mexico and as usual I had to say something. It went like this:

It is not drug related violence. It is Prohibition Related Violence.
That comment made my user rating drop like a stone. So I thought I would make another comment in response.
With just one comment my user rating went from +1 to -29! Let me see if I can lower it further:

DRUG WAR = BIG GOVERNMENT

Heh.

I'm now at -64. Evidently some people are paying attention.

DRUG WAR = BIG GOVERNMENT

but... but... but... conservatives are the party of smaller government and less regulation...

They lie.

The purpose of the War on Drugs is, and has always been, to diminish our liberties one step at a time.

M., that is some seriously funny shit right there.
Did you read about the Dunning-Kruger effect over at AoS? So true.
My Grandfather used to say of such people- often wrong, but never in doubt.

If I want to go to a World Series game and not smell pot, I should watch on tv?

How does legalizing work?

How does legalizing work? You repeal laws against a narcotic, and watch as the jails magically empty themselves and happiness and fluffy bunnies ensue.

Just like in California, who has seen their incarceration rate drop by 90% since they legalized pot.

Oh wait, that hasn't happened. But I'm totally sure that's because we're waiting for all the people put in jail for 50 years for trying a odd-tasting brownie at a frat party to get out so they can be productive citizens again.

Ryan,

Only possession has been legalized. Manufacture and sales have not been legalized.

In Calif. we now have the same conditions we had under alcohol prohibition. Mfg. and sales illegal - consumption is not.

Why would you expect much change under those circumstances.

BTW drug prohibition (as was alcohol prohibition) was a Progressive idea. Nice to see that the Progressive ideas have so much support on the right. We really do need two Progressive Parties in America. Because then the Progressives can't lose.

In the end I suppose it depends on who you fear most dopers or government.

Me? Government all the way.

Of course it may have something to do about my brother being killed in a drug war cross fire.

How does legalizing work?

Well first you pass a Constitutional Amendment making a product illegal and then you pass a counter amendment.

Or you go back to the way things were before 1937 for pot or before 1914 for opiates and cocaine.

The old ways are best. I suppose that is way too conservative for most on the right.

What kind of site did you just link to? That hurt my soul to read.

Some one has to go into the pits of Hell and report back.

Just call me Dante.
