Medium libertarian Iron Man for Giuliani

Via Dr. Helen, I just took the Ultimate 2008 Presidential Candidate Matcher.

Ultimate 2008 Presidential Candidate Matcher
Your Result: Rudy Guiliani

The former New York City mayor emphasizes his tough foreign policy stance. His primary issue is national security, and would continue to pursue Bush's war on terrorism. Guiliani is liberal on social issues, favoring civil unions for gays and abortion rights. He is more conservative on tax policy, healthcare, and social security. He wants to expand nuclear energy to reduce dependence on fossil fuels.

Mitt Romney

Ron Paul

Dr. Helen is also a Giuliani match, and interestingly, her candidate preferences are ranked in the same order as mine. (I don't know whether that is built in to the Giuliani profile or not.)

This put me in the mood for more testing, so I took the "Which Superhero are you?" test.

I'm Iron Man:

NOTE: The html code did not render properly, which forced me to use a screenshot instead.

Still in the mood for more testing, I thought it was time to retest my libertarian purity, as I'm sometimes acccused of being polluted. I took a fairly thorought test at at this test site.

My results:

Your Libertarian Purity Score

Your score is...

71

51-90 points: You are a medium-core libertarian, probably self-consciously so. Your friends probably encourage you to quit talking about your views so much.

As backup, I took the the World's Smallest Political Quiz again.

I'm always consistently in the "libertarian" camp, and the placement of my red dot has changed little if at all over the years.

I have a question, though. Will someone please explain to me why they keep leaving Fred Thompson off the candidate matching tests? I am almost certain that he would be my number one match because I'm a pretty strong federalist, and I admire his unusually outspoken (for a politician) federalism.

MORE: Via Greg Mankiw, I found a link to a recently released October 19, 2005 interview with Milton Friedman (by Dallas Fed president and CEO Richard W. Fisher).

Here's an especially good YouTube segment:

UPDATE: My thanks to Glenn Reynolds for the link, and a warm welcome to all!

(I've never been a comics fan, but now I'm intrigued with the idea of Iron Man's sentient armor, especially the implications for libertarianism....)

I got Giuliani as well, but got a different candidate order than you. My Democrats in order were Clinton, Kucinich, Edwards, and Obama. That's probably pretty accurate. If I'm going to have a socialist, pacifist president, I'd at least like one that's against the drug war.

I suspect Rudy is going to be the GOP nominee and I can't say I am thrilled about it. I will give him a limited number of props for getting out a quick press release in favor of the Supremes affirming Silberman's decision in Parker/Heller.

Although my gut tells me Hillary is indeed inevitable, I can't avoid thinking that the fat lady hasn't yet sung before exiting Stage Left. I guess I'd really like to see Edwards go home to that airplane hanger he calls a house and let Hillary and Barack Hussein slug it out.

My bottom line, though, is that I really am tired of the Clinton and the Bush families. I wish they would just go home and enjoy their ill-gotten gains. Unfortunately, we will probably have to put up with Jeb running for Prez before long. And then, the next thing you know, poor Chelsea will be 35.

I took a PollingPoint poll that was advertised on RedState last night. I've taken a lot of Polling Point polls but this was by far the most infuriating. No Fred, who is my main man, and no option to say that I would not vote for ANY Dem candidates. Also most matchups they gave me were Dems vs. John McCain, a choice that most certainly will cause my head to explode if it comes to that. I ripped them to shreds in the comments/suggestions box.

I've yet to see a good poll but I've seen a lot of horrible ones.

L.M., Jeb would likely make a great prez but he will never run. 2 Bushes are all this country will put up with. 2 Clintons IMHO will destroy us. I just can't believe the majority want to see us go through all that all over again. Sociopaths, both of them, him with oodles of charm, her with massive negative charm.

A political test that includes Ron Paul but excludes Fred Thompson is pretty much automatically invalid at the starting gate.

I too saw the poll at Dr Helen's and took it. Mine came up Romney (whom I'd hold my nose for in the general election) and of course I also immediately noticed my favorite (also Thompson) wasn't even on the list -- so I dismissed the poll as (possibly Hugh Hewitt agenda pushing) garbage.
Now, if it misses your favorite politician, how can you count on the system to identify your inner super hero? Oh....all right... I admit it: I'll probably take that one as well.

Jeez, I've been volunteering for Fred...apparently the wrong guy!

Awww, criminy! I didn't see the note on html code problems.

Anyway, on my test the entire bar was red.

Kerry   ·  November 25, 2007 01:22 PM

It wasn't far off calling me for Guiliani, but thought my second choice was McCain.

My close second is Romney. I'll vote for Kucinich before I vote for McCain.

Bombast   ·  November 25, 2007 01:52 PM

I know it's old had to criticize testing inaccuracies, particularly for some crummy internet test, but my god, the libertarian test is terrible. Because I think incest should be illegal, I'm a horrible statist. Further, how the hell does one "privatize law"?

Johnny   ·  November 25, 2007 02:48 PM

Romney, McCain, Paul, Guiliani, Clinton (&^%$), Edwards (*%$#), Kucinich (No way), Obama.

Of course, every one from Clinton on down had an almost invisible red area. McLame is not my second choice. I don't care what that poll says.

David R. Block   ·  November 25, 2007 03:27 PM

Why do they leave gun rights off the quiz? I suspect that that would change my match from Guiliani to somone else.
