Cultural Marxism
American Thinker looks at Cultural Marxism There are two misconceptions held by many Americans. The first is that communism ceased to be a threat when the Soviet Union imploded. The second is that the New Left of the Sixties collapsed and disappeared as well. "The Sixties are dead," wrote columnist George Will ("Slamming the Doors," Newsweek, Mar. 25, 1991)It is not about melting pot America. It is about Balkanize and conquer. I've criticized the cultural Marxism meme before, but the fact is, Communists used all sorts of people and causes very skillfully, and a principal goal was destablization of society by whatever means worked. This did and does not render the people who were used Marxist, though. (That point is lost on those who are manipulated in the name of the "Culture War," and who enjoy an opportunity to call the people they don't like Communists.) Considering Linda Kimball's views on homosexuality, I suspect she's grinding an axe, and simply trying to smear the homos as a bunch of commies to suit her own ends: Check this out: http://www.michnews.com/cgi-bin/artman/exec/view.cgi/144/7925 We now know who is responsible for purposely introducing sodomy, promiscuity, obscenity, porn, and moral degeneracy in general into our culture, and to what ends they've done so. And now we must, with grim determination purge our culture of it, eject socialists from public office, and do everything that lies within our power to replace moral degeneracy with moral virtues.......honor, honesty, dignity, fortitude, personal responsibility and accountability, diligence, valor, integrity, fidelity, and self-sacrifice. We must return to America's founding moral anchor... our Christian based worldview. There are some real gems in the above piece. Check out the stuff she has posted at the Conservative Voice: http://www.theconservativevoice.com/articles/category.html?id=199 And the Sierra Times: http://www.sierratimes.com/03/arc_page.php?author=Linda%20Kimball Entertaining but (I think) a bit unhinged. Eric Scheie · February 18, 2007 11:40 PM David Ross, You will note my selective quotation. I quoted the part I agreed with and failed to quote the part where I disagreed. My quotation of Kimball does not mean blanket agreement. It only means I'm pretty much in agreement with what I quoted. Heck I don't always agree with myself. And the function of those organizations mentioned is the destruction of society. To be rebuilt along Marxist lines. Traditional morality works because most people function on that basis. Didling another man's wife can lead to murder. One at least ought to be civil enough to ask permission. And let it go if permission is denied. Some men are very uncomfortable with gays. If one is gay then sad as it is, in most social settings it ought not be flaunted. However, being gay should not bring political disabilities. Nor should didling another man's wife with permission. Running for office however requires one to conform (mostly) to the prejudices of the voters in question. It is why what we have is called representative government. And rearrange the sexes in any combinations you like in the above examples. My typing is too slow to give all the permutations. Well any way it takes all kinds and I'm willing to ally myself with Kimball on the question of Cultural Marxism. Political Correctness. Post Modernism (pomo). BTW a while back I did a number of quotes from Camille Paglia, who doesn't like pomo either. However, I think her views on the war against Islamic fascism are idiotic at best. More likely delusional. Still she is correct about Post Modernism and I used her views on that to serve my purposes. Tolerance of other view points is a good thing. It makes dialog and changing minds possible. I'm remided of the Nebraska Rabbi who got to talking at length to an American Nazi. Surpisingly the Nazi became a Jew before he died. The Rabbi was the first person in his life willing to listen and really dialog. Now admittedly tolerance doesn't always work out so well. However, Classical Values is about tring to bridge gaps based on how men are and not how we wish them to be. And we should be willing to look and listen. Which is the heart of Classical Values. M. Simon · February 19, 2007 12:13 AM "the Gay Straight Lesbian Educators Network" If they are so inclusive, then why bother with the Gay Straight Lesbian part? I mean, isn't that redundant, and shouldn't they be just called the Educators Network? ... that is, unless what they mean by that is "we don't want those fucking hermaphrodites, and don't even get us started on the asexuals..." Ed Minchau · February 19, 2007 05:16 AM They left out the word "bisexual." Doesn't fit the either/or culture war world of "us" and "them" -- and it tends to remind people of the fluidity of human sexuality -- to say nothing of the highly selective way the word "choice" is used. However, I think Kimball is one of those people who honestly believes homosexuality threatens Western Civilization. (Perhaps she should take another look at the Pagan statues....) The problem I have with this strain of "anti PC" sermonising, is that it offers a solution to the Gramschian meme which is even worse than the disease. Simon, next time open your ears for Linda Kimball's side-comments -
"The linchpin of Cultural Marxism is cultural determinism, the parent of identity politics and group solidarity. In its turn, cultural determinism was birthed by the Darwinian idea that man is but a soulless animal and therefore his identity is determined by for example, his skin color or his sexual and/or erotic preferences. This proposition rejects the concepts of the human spirit, individuality, free will, and morally informed conscience (paired with personal accountability and responsibility) because it emphatically denies the existence of the God of the Bible. "
To Kimball: Darwin, and therefore modern biology, is guilty by association with Communists(!); and "the God of the Bible", who isn't available except through the Bible which Kimball happens to own, must be believed or else.
"Cultural Marxism must reject these because these principles of liberty "are endowed by our Creator," who made man in His image." - The side-comment here: that there is but one God and that this God is the one described in the book of Genesis. Again, this is an attempt to replace the new lie of PC with the old lie of Creationism.
Even in what you quote, Kimball is not too picky about separating the extreme homosexual activists, or even unethical conspiratorial partisan jerks like Andrew Sullivan, from principled gay men like some of the hosts of ClassicalValues - who deserve a gay rights movement worthy of the name, and whose agenda I support.
Kimball is not a friend to classical values. Please do not let this site serve as a reverse "useful idiot".
