We Don't Do Numbahs

This is a reprise of an oldie but goodie with an addition or two. The oldie can be found here if you want to see exactly how much I am plagiarizing myself. (can you do that?)

In the video California State Treasurer Bill Lockyer, who is a Democrat, obliquely takes a shot at the Republicans for focusing on the Culture War instead of bread and butter issues like controlling State spending. But he really opens several new orifices on Democrats.

And now. For some really old stuff brought to you by Clayton Cramer. Federalist Paper #62. And other creamy goodness. So when you are done here go there.

...great injury results from an unstable government. The want of confidence in the public councils damps every useful undertaking, the success and profit of which may depend on a continuance of existing arrangements. What prudent merchant will hazard his fortunes in any new branch of commerce when he knows not but that his plans may be rendered unlawful before they can be executed? What farmer or manufacturer will lay himself out for the encouragement given to any particular cultivation or establishment, when he can have no assurance that his preparatory labors and advances will not render him a victim to an inconstant government? In a word, no great improvement or laudable enterprise can go forward which requires the auspices of a steady system of national policy.
So some white guys 200 years ago figured out that discontinuity in government is bad for business? And the new guy came in promising to remake America? And voters thought it would be a good idea? Well voters, a little more change than you had hoped for? You betcha.

Here is a nice low cost printed version of The Federalist Papers.

In the history of mankind has explaining to a liberal that what they are doing won't work and that it will lead to ruin done anything but make them work faster and harder in bringing about that ruin?

How many decades of ignoring obvious warnings are needed before it's OK to say that what they want is the ruin?

They think if they can just break down every system and institution then man's inherent goodness will be unleashed and Utopia will follow.

Scott,

I just can't let them have it without a fight.

I intend to put up a stiff one.

M. Simon   ·  October 9, 2010 03:00 AM

Simon, I'm all for the fight against the commie-libs. I'm just growing weary that our fight against them usually becomes only a logical explanation. "Get in their face and push back twice as hard."

We need to use tactics like they used in the 60s to take over society. Let them have not one moment of peace and let them not make the smallest and quietest liberal point without an agry denunciation and calling them out as true enemies of civilization. They don't want to make society better, but is a way different from our way, they want to break everything so magic will happen. Treat them like a crazy man on an airliner trying to open the door to get fresh air.

We keep playing by Mayberry rules and they play by prison rules. We threaten them with a mark on their permanent record. They stick a knife into our people, or just bite off finger.

Scott,

If we want a classier society we have to play by classier rules. Even if it handicaps us in the short run.

Because when the commies are on the run they will be resorting to screaming and invective and we will stare them down with cool reason. Making their final fall all the sweeter.

As to denouncing their stinking pile? Why do you think I blog.
