Find Another Way

Abortion has come up and as usual the discussion gets abrasive. Well I like being abrasive as much as the next guy. So let me start with a fragment of a recent comment well tied to the zeitgeist.

Your attitude reminds me of that recent 10:10 adverting campaign. You know, where they blow up the children that doesn't agree with them?
I'm much kinder. I merely intend to deny you the government power to implement your dreams.

Find another way.

You are quoting out of context. You said"

I propose we hang you to deter your intolerant attitude. I'll bet I could get a posse up for that.

You proposed hanging me. How is that not like blowing people up with whom you disagree?

Ah. I see irony is not one of your strong points. Pity.

My point is that once you start a culture war using government power it is a coin toss as to who or whom winds up hanging from the lamp posts.

It is much better to get people to change their minds by persuasion than at gun point. Americans especially will obstruct that "at gun point" deal. Why not do what works better? You know - follow the example of your Lord (I'm assuming you are a Christian). Or take the more specific advice of Samuel. Put your faith in God not government. Because Samuel says if you put your faith in government you are lost. You don't want to be there when that s**t goes down.

The love of government by the God people will lay them low. I'd rather not see it happen. Whatever.

And I'm not attacking your faith or your morals. Which I'm mostly in accord with. Merely your methods.

It isn't irony when you indirectly chastise me for not being as kind as you, especially when you take my quote out of context.

I do not advocate punishing or killing those who disagree with me. Actually, I would find life quite boring were nobody to disagree with me. I DO advocate punishing people for committing a crime.

You and I just disagree on the difference between a vice and a crime. I consider inducing\providing drugs to others as a crime, and I consider Abortion to be a form of murder. (Also a crime. It was on the books in Texas as a crime till 1973)

DL,

I still haven't got anything from you on organizations that want to confront the abortion question without government help.

My offer stands. Find another one (or many) and I'll do a favorable post if they are as you represent them.

I'm serious about finding another way. You?

Your response is just a variation on the "I think abortion is a vice" argument.

Do you know of any organizations that offer to confront the murder problem without government help?

The Abortion problem will solve itself. All it needs is time. Those that support it will lose population and at some point the tide will turn. The shame is that we have shed and will shed so much blood getting to the point we will inevitably get to anyway.

But DL,

I have provided a link to just such an organization. Pity that such as yourself can't find another.

"Every power you give the government to do good will eventually be used by the government to do evil."

BTW one thing you do have in your favor is that you are a Darwinist. So there is that. Natural selection will sort it out.

Me? Four kids. One a Fulbright Scholar teaching American Culture to Russians. He is well schooled in my libertarian values. There is little I could do in life more subversive than that.

One is finishing his studies in electronics engineering.

One is in her second year of chemical engineering.

One is a poet.

So I'm doing my Darwinian best to improve the situation.
