Muslims Against Sharia

I had a post up at Classical Values called So Insensitive. Nothing unusual. I do lots of posts at Classical Values. What was special was a commenter who signed himself Muslims Against Sharia. He provided a link to (what else?) Muslims Against Sharia. So let us see what they have to say about Islamo Fascism Awareness Week which has just passed.

Muslims Against Sharia congratulate David Horowitz FREEDOM CENTER and Mike Adams, Tammy Bruce, Phyllis Chesler, Ann Coulter, Nonie Darwish, Greg Davis, Stephen Gale, David Horowitz, Joe Kaufman, Michael Ledeen, Michael Medved, Alan Nathan, Cyrus Nowrasteh, Daphne Patai, Daniel Pipes, Dennis Prager, Luana Saghieh, Rick Santorum, Jonathan Schanzer, Christina Sommers, Robert Spencer, Brian Sussman, Ed Turzanski, Ibn Warraq and other speakers on the success of the Islamofascism Awareness Week.

Islamofascism (or Islamism) is the main threat facing modern civilization and ignorance about this threat is astounding. We hope that this event becomes regular and reaches every campus.

A great many Westerners do not see the clear distinction between Islam and Islamism (Islamofascism). They need to understand that the difference between Islam and Islamism (Islamofascism) is the same as the difference between Christianity and Christian Identity Movement (White Supremacy Movement).

Wow. I'm in total agreement there.

You should visit them and find out more. Good people.

I'm not so sure we would classify them as "good people", after the extended, very vulgar, combative exchange we had with them.

If you are interested in it look here:

Remember, everyone is not always what they seem and in today's world that can be very important and dangerous.

Papa Ray,

I did not have time to go through the whole thread. However, it appears to me that the gang of Texans was not paying any attention to what MAS was saying. Some people are old before their time. Me? I was so much older then. I'm younger than that now.

I think MAS is correct. Islam must first be reformed where it is safe to reform. Then the reformation can spread.

If you looked at MAS's site the principles enunciated are exactly what we in the West practice. We have holy books that call for stoning for adultery. We have declared those sections inoperative. Just as MAS has declared similar sections of the Koran inoperative. Let us hope those ideas spread over time.

I don't get the anger you pitched at MAS. His position is very reasonable even if the numbers it affects are currently small.

I guess I would be most unwelcome in the Texas hate club. I don't feel the loss.

"A great many Westerners do not see the clear distinction between Islam and Islamism (Islamofascism)."

Well, the benefit of the doubt is wearing thin--especially when it's not reciprocated.

Brett,

The anti-Sharia Muslims are one in ten-thousand. The question is - can we encourage that to engulf the rest?

Had the guy put comments on my blog, supporting Pelosi and company's suckup to Islamic dictatorships as a means of combatting shari'a. Seems to me that's enabling it, not against it.

He/She got kind of strident about me being against the Turkish Genocide grandstanding and how it impedes the process in Iraq.

Often the whole message ain't what you want to see, so you find something that's acceptable and latch onto that while ignoring the rest... That happens way too much these days, on all sides. Everyone's looking for a black and white, strictly binary world - and there's little but shades of gray.

JLawson,

Thanks for that. I will look at the site more carefully (been a little busy).

I think supporting dictatorship is a bad idea. In fact even Congress is against it.
