Al-Qaida in Iraq confirmed al-Zarqawi's death and vowed to continue its "holy war," according to a statement posted on a Web site.
"We want to give you the joyous news of the martyrdom of the mujahed sheik Abu Musab al-Zarqawi," said the statement, signed by "Abu Abdel-Rahman al-Iraqi," identified as the deputy "emir" or leader of al-Qaida in Iraq.
It isn't often I can agree with the enemy, but I join them in thanking God.
Anyway martyr shmartyr! I love joyous news and I want more.
MORE: Dean Esmay thinks the news is terrific if it's true and he has a roundup.
Glenn also touches on apparentlyconflicting reports that MSM reporters are applauding, and asks,
Would it have been news if reporters had cheered the death of Heinrich Himmler in 1943? I doubt it.
Had an American expressed sadness on the death of Himmler and blamed FDR for Himmler's activities, would an interview with him have been featured by big news networks? Would there have been worries that the death of Himmler might make FDR look good in the polls?

I haven't felt this happy since Arafat died.
And because I'm all multiculti and stuff I'm going to find some candy to give the kids. :)

Hey! Baghdad Bob found work as Al Qaeda's press agent. Way to go, Bob.
Dennis -- good people :: cough :: capable of ignoring reality at that level are hard to find. I mean... :)
Still happy.
We live in an odd age. My friend who lives across the world gave me the news first as I stumbled up at the crack of dawn, ill-awakened and caffeine-deprived to check for a business email I was expecting. He rang me up on Skype. And even though he's not American, his first words were "We got him--"
Even though his despicable country is not part of any coallition.
This is a war of the civilized against the barbarians.
Gosh, I feel so... Roman. :) (Don't start. I know the Romans could be the mothers and fathers of all horror. However and still... Let the civilization with the better shower facilities win. :))

Good point Portia, but I think civilization demands real showers (the kind that dispense, you know. . . water).
