Global warming causes immorality!

Here's something you don't see every day: Galapagos tortoises having sex. It was amazing to see these huge things get so excited, and the male (at least, whichever one was on top) was making a strange bellowing sound which sounded like nothing I'd ever heard before. A male peacock was watching, and eventually a crowd gathered, cheering on the pair with lewd remarks.

I took the above photo today at the Philadelphia Zoo, where I entertained a visitor on a day warm enough for T-shirts. The confused tortoises must have thought Spring had arrived.

(Bush's fault, no doubt.)

Galapagos tortoises may not look the part, but they hook up all the time! They're serious exhibitionists, and I say this as a woman who did more than my share of school field trips.

Well, this blog could use some serious exhibitionism -- even at a turtles pace....

:)

They look rather like crabs to me. I think my views are somewhere in the Crab Nebula.

From what I've heard, the peacock seems to be a Transcendental Scientist, the male having all the color and style.

When am I going to see some Lesbian cats? Meow!

The Philadelphia Zoo's never that interesting when I go. Must be your potent sexual aura, dude.

I wonder if female tortoises complain that when they're having sex, the males are finished in only four days?
