Meanwhile, I thought this Brookings Iraq survey (via Glenn Reynolds) is well worth a look. Because I know people don't like to click on links, here's an interesting paragraph:

Glad to see things are getting a little better for most of those now living in what is now known as Iraq, formerly and more properly known as Mesopotamia. The place hasn't been the same since the fall of the Babylonian Empire. I'm a reactionary.
