late night flow away post
Long drive way up river. Coco had a great time, and she's getting pretty good at the famous "pit bull grin."
MORE: Oh what the hell! Here's Coco's real time reaction to this post, as I sit here feeding up the pictures. (Precisely what I should be doing.) posted by Eric on 08.06.05 at 11:26 PM

There's nothing like a happy dog. :) BTW, don't know if you saw the story, but last night ABC news had a report on an underground railroad for pitbulls escaping Denver. You may want to check out the ABC news site to see if you can find it. They aired footage of pitbulls playing and romping together without friction. So that is not an urban myth. :) Alan Kellogg · August 7, 2005 10:11 PM Your photos of your happy dog cheered me a great deal. I lost my schnauzer a few years back. As I work long hours anymore, I can't justify leaving an animal home alone for such a long time each day. radtech59 · August 8, 2005 02:04 AM Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I'm still getting over the loss of Puff, and I'm happy to see Coco making friends! (Thanks for the underground railroad tip; I'll look for the story.) :) Eric Scheie · August 8, 2005 09:25 AM A little follow up here. Look for stories on social cues and dogs. Seems that canines are better at interacting with humans on a non-verbal level than chimpanzees. The same holds true for the domestic fox. Nothing about cats on the other hand, though breeds such as the Maine Coon seem to have the knack. Alan Kellogg · August 8, 2005 07:00 PM |

I just got home from a wedding last night when I saw these pictures. I didn't write any comments then because I, too, just felt like "crashing", as they say. As to the other picture of Coco, I must say I've never seen a dog smile like that except in a cartoon. What a joyous dog! That sunset is sublime, beautiful colors (blue, magenta, yellow -- the subtractive primaries!). And that river is idyllic. Once again, I have to say, you are an excellent photographer.
