Witch hunting on the brain

Does this sick phenomenon called "outing" know no bounds? I mean, it's bad enough to go after a politician for "hypocrisy" when his personal life runs afoul of his stated political views. But to go after a family member? This was the kneejerk reaction of certain Daily Kos regulars, who wasted no time in calling for an investigation to determine whether John Roberts' son is gay.

This is now being dismissed as absurd because, of course, the son happens to be four years old.

But can such a thing be called a simple mistake? I don't think so. The fact that such an allegation was raised against a kid only four years old shows a degree of obsessive paranoia beyond belief.

To call it homophobic McCarthyism would be understatement.

I have had it with Kos and that crowd. They obviously hate homosexuals. At least Rev. Fred Phelps does so honestly. And I never heard of even him trying to "out" a 4-year-old boy. Despicable.

I don't know anythng about this John Roberts really. I'm glad to know he's Catholic, as is the Queen of All Evil. He'll probably subject to a smear campaign on that basis alone.

I'm against any smear, but I'm all for an intense grilling as to his views (not just on abortion!!) to see to it that he will adhere to the Constitution. Unfortunately, the Democrats don't know what the Constitution is. They think all it means is "the New Deal plus abortion".

I suggested Randy Barnett, but my friend the blogger and commenter known as Wince and Nod pointed out that it would be cruel and unusual punishment for him to be interrogated by the likes of Ted Kennedy instead of the other way around.

On the other hand, Chappaquiddick Ted was way too good for Robert Bork (Randy Barnett's polar opposite spectrumologically), who deserved Glenn Reynolds instead.

Glenn Reynolds wrote an excellent fisking of Bork once. But if he doesn't give an Instalanche to the Queen of All Evil, then -- uh, oh! off with his head! We must get him to do so.

[W]hat may be missing is a judicial philosophy that will withstand the rigors of decades on the Court.

Writing an article, giving a speech, or even writing a column or blog about how the Constitution should be interpreted -- taking a position, and defending it against all comers -- is hard. Not the same kind of hard as standing up to judicial questioning in oral argument, to be sure. Almost completely different, actually. It requires a knowledge of one's own principles and an ability to articulate them and defend them publicly against contrary views.

BTW, I wouldn't ask Glenn Reynolds to link anyone. As I think I said before, I don't think anyone can be said to "deserve" the attention of an artist, as it spoils the magic and the spontaneity.

Glenn Reynolds's whole raison d'etre is to serve and obey the Queen! That's why he set up his blog! Has he forgotten this?
