Classical splendor unearthed!
I should have posted these last month, but when I went to California I left behind my camera's CompactFlash memory, so only just now have I stumbled across some previously unpublished photos of what can only be called neoclassical archaeological masterpieces. The following pictures were all taken at a excellent Italian restaurant Dennis discovered. Because of its decor as well as its food, I think it should be made the official Classical Values Restaurant. First, some amazing murals actually painted inside the men's room. Here's Mural One: And from the opposite men's room wall, Mural Two: And, by the front doorway, a bust of an unidentified (and somewhat stylized) Caesar directs his gaze at those who are about to eat, as well as those who have eaten and are about to leave: Et tu much, Brute? posted by Eric on 02.21.05 at 08:52 PM

If you're going to keep the name and location of the restaurant secret from your loyal readers, could you at least tell us which hemisphere it's in? Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease. retrofuturistic · February 22, 2005 12:30 AM Yes, just where is this paragon situated? And do they charge admission to the gent's? big dirigible · February 27, 2005 05:11 AM It's called Fellini's and while they didn't charge me to use the bathroom, I didn't ask whether cameras were permitted in there. Nice writeup here. Address: Fellini's Cafe Eric Scheie · March 1, 2005 08:32 AM |
