Bush supporters called "gay," beaten with baseball bat!

How odd that just after analyzing the claim that Bush voters are physical abusers (with Kerry voters as their victims) I see direct evidence to the contrary: a report of Kerry supporters attacking Bush supporters for allegedly being.... gay!

I am absolutely not making this up.

Tough as it is to do, I'm trying to make sense out of this Drudge item:

The argument began earlier in the day Thursday with a discussion about candidates the minors had supported for president, Backstrom said. The two victims supported President Bush.

"We were sitting in the computer room at school, and there was kind of a political debate," said Chad McKay of Arden Hills. "Some people said only gay people vote for Bush." Chad said the victim said "only gay people would vote for Kerry because he supports gay marriage."

Backstrom said the victims then "called the other guys some names."

Chad said later in the afternoon when he and the victim were walking to their cars they heard their three senior classmates yelling at them, according to the police report.

Chad got to his car, but the three 17-year-olds attacked the victim, he said, hitting him in face, including with a baseball bat and kicking him. One boy had a padlock wrapped around his finger, Chad said.

Well, it certainly isn't true to say that only gay people supported Bush. (Most estimates point to 23% of the gay vote going to Bush.)

But then, neither is it true to assert that only gay people supported Kerry. (Nor is it true to say that Kerry supports gay marriage.)

Once again, we see clear abuse of statistics, by people old enough (they're 17) to know better.

I hate to carp about morality, but I think there's a lesson to be learned here.

Sometimes, simple logic is a moral value too!

MORE: Perhaps I've got this all wrong. Maybe the Kerry supporters believed they were the victims of the Bush supporters.... (Mobilizing passions can be so mutable.)

Figures I have so far are that 23% of homosexual voted for Bush, out of approximately 4,000,000 or so homosexual voters, or about 4% of the total voters. That's down 2% from 25% homosexual voters for Bush in 2000, but up in terms of absolute numbers.

In the South or Southeast (a.k.a., Dixie) some 1/3 of homosexual voters voted for Bush. Reminds me of your flag with the Stars and Bars superimposed on the Rainbow Stripes. Somehow, I find that very sexy.

Anyway, quite a number of Kerry voters voted for those anti-marriage amendments. I believe that was largely among the lower classes and the Jesse Jackson and Louis Farrakhan supporters, who liked Kerry's economic agenda but also hate homosexuals (because homosexuals, like Jews, are richer and more accomplished than they are -- in other words, envy). Hatred of homosexuals, and of sexuality as such, is rampant throughout our culture, and is found in both political parties.

Absolute numbers of homosexuals voting for Bush this year were some 1,040,000.
