Village Highlights
I am delighted that Dennis has been blogging up a storm in my absence so I don't have to force myself to write anything. Instead, I thought I'd upload a few photos from today's trip to New York's Lower East Side. (Yeah, last time was Upper West Side; I'm making my way around....) Here's an ivy-covered building in an arrested state of deterioration. (I don't know what they do there, but I couldn't leave it alone.) A classic old firehouse best described as charming: And finally, a cat taking charge of a store's inventory: (It will all add up, I'm sure....) posted by Eric on 10.11.04 at 10:58 PM

Todd, thanks for pointing out what that is! I'll have to go back and look more closely the next time. Eric Scheie · October 16, 2004 10:12 AM |

Eric - Your photo of the "ivy covered building" on Houston & Bowery really brought back some memories for me. At the foot of the building are the Liz Christy Gardens (New York's first community garden I believe). The wife and I used to love to take summer evening strolls there as newlyweds. Glad to see it's still there.
