Of Hash and Hatchets: a moral lesson for the kids
It turns out that old propaganda film Reefer Madness was true! BLANTYRE, Malawi (Reuters) - A Malawian man believed to be high on marijuana beheaded two women with an axe Friday, police in the southern African country said. One time in college I had to pull a naked and screaming man off of a woman in a stairwell and hold him untiil the police came. Clearly nudism drove him over the edge. posted by Dennis on 09.25.04 at 09:33 AM

Steven I should take the day off more often! You never write poetry for me! Hashish? That's the root of the word "assassin" (hashisheen); Hasan bin Sabbah (according to legend) had his boys smoke lots of pot before he sent them out with curved knives to do their dirty work..... (Of course, booze is the best all round murder drug.) Eric Scheie · September 26, 2004 12:24 AM |

Reminds me of a poem I wrote a few years ago, based on a story I saw in an EC comic book written back in the early 1950s. [Note: a "fit" was a 1950s term for the hypodermic needles and such equipment used in drugs]:
Once there was a MAN.
And the MAN had a SON.
But the Son had a FIT.
The Man had a fit when he saw his Son's fit.
That fit isn't fit for anything fit,
said the Father to the Son.
Don't take dope,
said the Father to the Son.
No hope with dope.
It isn't SQUARE.
It will lead to long hair.
The Father took away the fit.
The Son had a fit when the Father took away his fit.
The Father and the Son had a fight over the fit.
The Son killed his Father.
That fit isn't fit for anything fit,
said the Father to the Son.
Don't take dope,
said the Father to the Son.
No hope with dope.
It isn't SQUARE.
It will lead to long hair....
....and the Electric Chair.
