More lovely and more temperate

I'm jealous that "IT'S TURNING INTO A LOVELY SPRING DAY" -- somewhere other than here.

If it's nice where you are, don't follow my example -- try to get out and enjoy it. Life's short.
No advice on what to do if it's not nice. But, eternal optimist that I am, I'm still convinced that Spring is coming -- notwithstanding the fact that this is a Charles Addams-style day.

Here's photographic proof (taken minutes ago, from inside of course....)

'Tis a beautiful day today here in Bellevue, Washington. The sun is shing. The grass is green. Pink blossoms are blooming on the trees.

I'm just north of Oregon, where I grew up and lived most of my life, where lives my good friend Robin Georg Olsen, and where marriage licenses are being issued to homosexual couples (in Multnomah County, i.e., Portland), and there is even talk of making homosexual marriage legal. Oregon has a proud history of freedom: gun rights are honored, as is freedom of expression, and sexual relations in private between consenting adults were legalized in 1971. I remember that well. Oregon, my Oregon!

In Seattle, the city government will not perform homosexual weddings or give out licenses, but will recognize such marriages made elsewhere among their employeees.

I don't believe in inevitable "Progress", it's still an uphill battle, but I am convinced that if we keep on fighting we can at least prevent the Enemy from winning.
