Natural to unnatural to political.
There is such a thing as natural curiosity about the sexuality of others, especially if one is interested in having sex with another person.
For reasons which are not entirely clear, certain religions transformed an otherwise natural, inquisitive, interest into an unnatural, inquisitorial interest. In the process, natural sexuality became unnatural, and the unhealthy sexual obsessiveness of a few men became binding on many generations.
But now, some people would have us transform an unnatural interest not back into a natural one, but into a political one!
They have to, really, because the left wants sexual desires to be treated like race (and people identified, characterized, and told how to vote based on their sexual tastes), while some religious fundamentalists now see politicized sexuality as the only way to preserve the stigma of the centuries.
Why must there continue to be a war between religion and sex? That only guarantees the continued politicization of of both, and turns people off to politics. Politics has become the arena where religion and sex square off to do battle.
The left has attempted to grab human sexuality as a sort of fiefdom, along the lines of "vote for us and we'll grant you minority status and protect you from your evil enemies on the right." Fundamentalists are all too quick to chime in, condemning as enemies those whose sexuality is sinful, and even lumping in ordinary people with the left
I don't like to resort to profanity to make my point, but there is absolutely way to argue logically with people who refuse to be logical.
