Grow till you glow!

"Perhaps we need to build nuclear power plants to keep the potheads happy."

Sounds like the sort of thing I might say if I wanted to give M. Simon a chuckle, but Clayton Cramer said it.

Potheads (more accurately, marijuana growers) are apparently using more than their fair share of electricity to grow the stuff, which Cramer sees as another reason to keep pot illegal. (Or perhaps build nukes!)

Meth cookers probably have a far worse environmental record, but I don't see that as much of an argument for or against drug relegalization (it might be the reverse); I just liked Cramer's remark about nukes.

As to whether potheads and nuke-lovers should unite, I think it's worth noting that like nuclear radiation, marijuana also has the remarkable ability to both cause and cure cancer!

Which means that if you combine both, you double your chances.

Of something...

Technology is helping the potheads out though. New LED arrays make indoor growing much more power efficient. In the future, we will have LEDs hooked directly to the plant via probes (ANY plant, not just pot), dynamically determining which wavelengths the plant requires at any given moment, delivering what the plant needs as efficiently as possible.

Actually, I was making fun of the absurdity of the claim about the amount of electricity the pot growers were consuming. It failed the giggle test.

Is pot was legal then it could be grown using sunlight. It is only because it is illegal that it is grown inside and out of sight.

Ditto Brian. Legalize it, and you won't need to grow as much as you can in a tiny hidden closet. You can plant the whole backyard with it.

Clayton is particularly warped about the drug war. I dunno maybe the old saw:

Drugs make people stupid - especially those that don't use them.

is correct.

And Thanks !

And Clayton if you are still reading. Why would they claim this? What are they looking for?

Maybe cartel profits aren't what they used to be and the American grower has to be trimmed back.

Pot prices in California are falling because of med-pot. I'm sure this also affects prices in the rest of the region if not the nation.

There is a good bit at this site -

on how and why government makes things happen.
